SANDAG – Inland Rail Trail
Project Synopsis
CPM Partners, as a sub-consultant, provided construction management support services to SANDAG on the Inland Rail Trail project.
The Inland Rail Trail is a 21-mile Class I bike facility through the cities of Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido, as well as a portion of the unincorporated County of San Diego. The Inland Rail Trail is an important element of the San Diego Regional Bike Plan and completion of the Inland Rail Trail and other similar projects will help create an interconnected regional bike network.
Phase 1 of the project consisted installation of approximately 1 mile of Inland Rail Trail along the NCTD right-of-way in the City of San Marcos.
Phase 2 of the project, the San Marcos to Vista segment, takes place mostly within the NCTD right-of-way between the City of San Marcos and the City of Oceanside boundaries. This is an 8 to 10-foot-wide multi-use bike path that runs parallel to the railroad tracks. This bike path connects to future bike paths or existing sidewalks. Work included landscaping and irrigation, lighting, drainage improvements, signs and striping, as well as two-foot-wide graded shoulders on each side of the path, retaining walls, and one bike bridge over creek.
