City of San Diego – North City Pure Water Pipeline


Project Synopsis
As part of the Pure Water Program team, CPM Partners is providing CPM scheduling services to the City of San Diego for this project. The Pure Water Program is a phased, multi-year program that will provide more than 40% of San Diego’s water supply locally by the end of 2035. The Program will use proven water purification technology to clean recycled water to produce safe, high-quality drinking water and offers a cost-effective investment for San Diego’s water needs and will provide a reliable, and sustainable water supply.

Project Synopsis
The work mainly consists of approximately 8 miles of 48-inch welded steel pipeline and appurtenances, a total of 6 various trenchless tunnel crossings. A new dichlorination facility constructed of cement mortar masonry with two 4,000-gallon chemical tanks, feed pumps, analyzers, forced air ventilation, fill and dosing piping, valves and other associated appurtenances.

This project also includes a Subaqueous Pipeline System (SAPL) that comprises over one mile of HDPE piping, 11 laterals with lengths ranging from 65 to 505 feet, 6″ tee riser with dual 2″ duckbill nozzles located along laterals or branches off a main line, a total of 106 dual duckbill check valve assemblies, and concrete pipe weights to secure the HDPE pipe to the bottom of Miramar Reservoir.

Services Provided
CPM Partners services include providing review of baseline schedule, critical path method scheduling, baseline schedule analysis, monthly schedule updates and analysis, time impact analysis and program level schedule coordination and schedule updates for conformance with project specifications, ensuring necessary records are kept on key production rates and work dates, and evaluating Contractor’s requests for time extension.
